Concrete Slab Settlement
Challenge
The homeowner of a single family home had been having concrete issues around his pool patio since 1995. Fed up and ready to do something about the problem, he decided to contact Quality 1st Basement Systems for a free estimate on concrete raising. His concrete slab experienced settling of up to 5 inches, which raised concern for trip hazards for his small children. With summer 2013 approaching, the settlement slab around the pool area began to alarm the homeowner for not only the appearance of his home, but more importantly the safety of his children and family.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems remedied the homeowner’s problem with the PolyLEVEL(TM) Polyurethane Injection System. Head PolyLEVEL(TM) Specialist Joe Nero drilled penny size holes into the settling and sunken parts of the concrete slab around the pool’s patio. He then was able to use the specialized equipment to inject the polyurethane under the concrete and raise it back to its original position. With the use of the PolyLEVEL(TM) system, exclusively available to Foundation Supportworks dealers, Quality 1st Basement Systems was able to stabilize and lift the settling concrete slab(s) up 5 inches toward its original elevation. The PolyLEVEL(TM) system was installed in less than half a day, with absolutely no mess left behind. The fast installation process gave the homeowner peace of mind and left him very happy knowing that his family can safely use their pool patio, just in time for summer fun.
