Basement Waterproofing in Marlboro, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner in Marlboro, New Jersey was experiencing water damage and a musty smell in their basement. This can be caused because dirt around the home's foundation settles. In the dirt and soil, there is a pressure that is created by water surrounding the foundation. During periods of heavy rainfall, the soil becomes saturated and creates hydrostatic pressure that pushes the water through the basement walls and floors. Basement flooding can ruin the structure of the home which will lead to cracking in the cement, and more leaking. A wet basement has a lot of negative effects such as, mold, condensation, and water vapor that can travel to the upper levels of the home. When homeowner breathes in this air from the basement, it can aggravate allergies and cause safety issues. Due to the intense water leakage in the basement, the homeowner's option was to replace the basement finishing, including the flooring and the walls that were damaged.
Solution
The homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems after seeing our advertisement in "The Home Magazine." We sent our System Design Specialist, Steve Ventriglio, to provide a free inspection. Our foreman, Jonathan Neira, installed the EverLast Wall System on the bottom half of the basement walls to replace the water damaged dry wall. These wall panels are made of vinyl, which makes them durable, waterproof and mold proof. Then, the foreman installed the ThermalDry Elite Plank Flooring in the basement. This plank flooring interlocks together and has pegs on the bottom that raise them above the cold, damp concrete. These plank floors will not be affected by moisture or water in any way. If there is a leak, these planks can be easily removed and dried out without having to be replaced with new planks. Check out this bright and fresh basement!
