Basement Waterproofing Transformation in Rutherford, NJ
Challenge
A resident in Rutherford, New Jersey reported water seeping in through their basement walls. This can happen because of the loose soil surrounding the home's foundation. Over time, this soil settles and becomes saturated during periods of heavy rainfall, which creates hydrostatic pressure, pushing water and moisture through the basement. Basement flooding can ruin the structure and the foundation of the home. In turn, this leads to cracks in the foundation, leaks, and more flooding. Moisture is the source of many other issues such as mold, musty smells, and deterioration.
Solution
The homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, Javier Hoyos Romero, was able to help them with a solution. He suggested they get a new sump pump and also replace their old walls with new waterproof walls. Our Basement Finishing Project Manager, Mason Koonce, and the Quality 1st Basement Crew installed the TripleSafe Sump Pump System in the basement. This sump pump will effectively pump out water and has three levels of protection, and also a backup battery pump to kick in if the power goes out. TripleSafe can pump out 11,500 gallons of water in a basement, especially with the backup pump. Next, the foreman the SaniDry Dehumidifier to work with the sump pump. This dehumidifier will circulate the air in the basement and keep it dry. Lastly, the foreman installed the EverLast Wall System which is waterproof, mold-proof, and also has built-in insulation. These walls give a bright and fresh appearance to the basement while keeping water and moisture out. Now, the homeowner has a transformed basement that is waterproof.
