Flooded basement fixed with waterproofing
Challenge
A homeowner in Staten Island wanted to finish her basement floor in order to create a nicer recreation space for her family. There was some residual water damage from flooding that occurred due to a faulty sump pump system. She wanted the space fixed up so that it would be more comfortable to entertain the family and guests.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems had the right products for this wet basement. First the old faulty sump pump was replaced with a TripleSafe sump pump system, which works to drain water out of the basement. This system comes with a back-up battery so it will not fail due to power outages. They also installed a WaterGuard and IceGuard to keep water flowing smoothly away from the home’s foundation, even during cold winter months.
The Quality 1st Basement Systems team then installed BrightWall Paneling, which gives basements a brighter and cleaner look. It is made of white plastic, which means that it is waterproof and mold resistant. Finally, the basement was finished off with ThermalDry Floor Matting, which is made up of modular floor tiles that snap together. These come in carpet or tile finishes, and variety of colors. Each ThermalDry tile has raised pegs underneath that create space, which prevents cold air as well as water from seeping through. It also gives the basement a sleek, finished look. Now this happy homeowner has a much brighter, finished space for her family and guests to enjoy!
