Challenge

A homeowner in Morganville, NJ, reached out to us at Quality 1st Basement Systems after noticing persistent musty odors and increasing humidity throughout their home. These issues were not only making the living environment uncomfortable but also raising concerns about potential health risks and structural damage. Upon contacting our Customer Care team, an inspection was quickly scheduled to determine the source of the problem.

Our System Design Specialist conducted a detailed assessment of the property and found that the crawl space was suffering from severe moisture infiltration. The space lacked proper insulation and had no vapor barrier system in place, allowing damp air and ground moisture to seep in. This created a breeding ground for mold, mildew, and wood rot: all of which could compromise the home's air quality and structural integrity.

Solution

To resolve the homeowner’s concerns and restore comfort to their living environment, we designed a comprehensive crawl space solution using three of our most effective products: CleanSpace, SilverGlo, and SaniDry Sedona.

Encapsulation with CleanSpace
We began by fully encapsulating the crawl space using our CleanSpace vapor barrier system. This durable liner was installed across the floor and walls to completely seal the area from ground moisture and humid outside air, creating a protective barrier that significantly reduced moisture levels.
Insulation with SilverGlo
Next, we addressed the insulation deficiencies by installing SilverGlo rigid foam panels along the crawl space walls. These panels reflect heat back into the space while providing a layer of thermal protection, which improves energy efficiency and helps maintain consistent indoor temperatures throughout the home.
Humidity Control with SaniDry Sedona
Finally, we installed the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to continuously manage humidity levels within the crawl space. This high-performance system helps maintain a dry, healthy environment by filtering the air and preventing future mold growth.
