New York Basement Wall Repair
Challenge
This New York City homeowner had water in her basement which damaged the flooring and walls. The water was seeping in through the basement walls and floors during rain storms for at least the last 5 years. As a Christmas present, her sister wanted to waterproof her basement for her. The water had caused damage to the walls, floors, and basement shelving which was costing this homeowner in storage space and loss of belongings. The water penetration had also caused discoloration in her concrete walls. Upon inspection, Nick noted that the wooden wall unit was rotted due to water damage. The flaking of paint and discoloration of the paint was evidence that this was a long standing issue in the home.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems installed a full perimeter WaterGuard basement waterproofing system. WaterGuard was the best solution available to this homeowner because it fit perfectly at the foot of the wall, allowing water from the floor and wall to drain right into the WaterGuard keeping the water out of the basement all of the time. The WaterGuard is the best basement waterproofing drainage system to solve all of the water problems in this particular basement.
BrightWall basement wall covering was used to stop water from entering the basement through the concrete basement walls. BrightWall was the best option for this unfinished basement because it fit within the homeowner's budget and still gave her basement a semi-finished feel. BrightWall stops water vapor from entering through porous concrete walls keeping humidity levels in the basement low. BrightWall also stops any water leakage from entering the basement because it seals the cold, porous concrete off from the rest of the basement.
A TripleSafe sump pump was also installed to pump water draining from the WaterGuard out of the basement and away from the home. The TripleSafe is able to handle any amount of water in the basement meaning it will keep the basement dry all the time. This homeowner did not have a sump pump previously. The value in having the security of the battery back up meaning that this sump pump will work even during storms made sense to this homeowner since it gave her peace-of-mind and drastically lowers the chances that her basement would ever flood again. This basement has stayed dry through the recent heavy rains and snow melt, and this homeowner is very happy!
