Challenge

Foundation cracks are a serious problem in any home. When this homeowner in Towaco, NJ noticed that he had cracks in his foundation walls, he was very concerned. The homeowner was concerned with the safety and structural integrity of his home. Upon inspection, Quality 1st Basement Systems found large foundation wall cracks. Solution

Quality 1st Basement Systems performed a full wall excavation and installed 11 Foundation SupportWorks push piers. The full wall excavation was done to free the foundation wall of any lateral pressure. This provided the team the best opportunity to lift the house back to its original position. The Foundation SupportWorks push piers then transferred the weight of the home from the incompetent soil around and directly underneath the foundation to the stable bedrock soil deep in the ground. The stable soil provided a much stronger foundation. When the piers reached the necessary depths to support the structure, they were connected and right away lifted the structure almost all the way back to its original position!

The installation crew installed PolyLEVEL foam to fill the voids beneath the garage slab. PolyLEVEL is a two-part poly-urethane foam which fills the void under the garage and lifts the concrete back to its original position. PolyLEVEL is lightweight so that it will not add more pressure onto the soil and cause the concrete to sink again. PolyLEVEL also creates a waterproof barrier on the bottom of the concrete to prevent further water damage to the concrete.
