Bayonne Basement Waterproofing
Challenge
The owner of this Bayonne, NJ property contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems because she was getting water into her newly finished basement on one foundation wall which seemed to be coming from her driveway. When Collin completed the inspection, he noticed that there was about an inch of water covering half of her basement. The standing water was on the driveway side of the house. Collin determined that water was building up on the outside of her home and seeping down her foundation wall to the floor joint. The homeowner had already spent thousands of dollars trying to fix the problem, but could not find a solution. The water had ruined her sheetrock and tile flooring.
Solution
The first step in waterproofing this basement was to install a basement drainage system along three of her basement walls to stop the water from coming into the basement. The WaterGuard basement waterproofing system was installed which is a piping system engineered specifically to solve basement water problems permanently. Since the WaterGuard sits on top of the footing, it will never clog with mud like most other basement waterproofing systems. A SuperSump sump pump was installed to pump the water draining to the WaterGuard away from the home. The SuperSump comes with a two-piece, airtight lid which will keep out moisture, odors, bugs, radon gas, and keeps the pump quiet.
To treat the basement walls, CleanSpace water vapor barrier was installed along the walls. CleanSpace keeps water vapor from entering the basement and drains water to the WaterGuard system to keep the basement dry. CleanSpace was important to the homeowner because she wanted to refinish her basement and wanted a waterproof element for her basement walls. At the beginning of the transaction, the homeowner seemed to be defeated by other contractor's promise to solve the problem and failing. The homeowner actually told Collin that she wished she had called him years ago and has since not had a drop of water on her basement floor! The homeowner has peacefully refinished her basement and no longer has to worry about water in her basement.
