Removing a Moldy Odor from a Crawl Space in Montgomery, NJ
Challenge
This property in Montgomery, New Jersey had a nasty smell coming from the crawl space. After hearing about Quality 1st Basement Systems on the radio, the owner contacted the company for help. Specialist Kenny Tramutola visited the property and met with the owner. She discussed her concerns with him and he made sure to understand the issue, inspected the home, and explained the solution thoroughly. This crawl space needed fresher air and lowered moisture to prevent mold growth.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems installed a sump pump with a downspout extension and a SaniDry dehumidifier. These solutions will keep the home smelling fresher and prevent the musty odor from coming back. The SaniDry dehumidifier is a self-draining system, so the owner does not have to keep removing the water from the machine. It removes up to 109 pints of water per day out of the air. All of that hard work lowers the relative humidity, which keeps the crawl space drier and safer. High relative humidity can cause mold and mildew to grow. By lowering the humidity, mold cannot thrive. The SaniDry dehumidifier is also energy efficient so the owner does not have to worry about climbing electricity bills.
The SuperSump sump pump will remove moisture from this crawl space. For added security, the sump pump has an alarm system that sounds if the crawl space gets wet. The sump pump's tight lid keeps any moisture inside of the sump pump out of the crawl space, ensuring that musty smells do not enter the home. Any moisture collected in the sump pump will be discharged through a pipe away from the home. This crawl space now no longer has a wet smell. It is dry and the reliable products keep it safe with lowered humidity.
