Quality 1st Hosts H.A.M Christmas Party
When Jenna Vecchione, the director of H.A.M., the Therapeutic Recreation Program for Hazlet, Aberdeen, & Matawan, got the call that they lost the venue for their holiday celebration she was in a panic. Invites had already gone out and they were scrambling to find a new place to host the party that was only a week away. A friend suggested they call Quality 1st Basement Systems. She knew Quality 1st had reached out to help the community in other ways, perhaps they’d help the “kids” from H.A.M.?
Deborah Roman, wife of Quality 1st owner, Tom Roman, quickly let the director of H.A.M. know that Quality 1st would be happy to open their office for the party. With less than a week’s notice and in the true spirit of the season, Deborah also let them know that Quality 1st would be supplying all the food as well as a DJ for dancing, arts and crafts, and a glitter tattoo artist.
The Quality 1st crew set up tables with festive red table cloths, cleared a dance floor and got the office party-ready and on Sunday, December 14th the “Kids from H.A.M.” arrived. Christmas music rocked the place while everyone feasted on the Italian buffet, decorated stockings, and then took to the dance floor. Just when the party couldn’t get any better, Santa showed up riding atop a Cliffwood Fire Truck. He passed out presents to all the kids and listened as they sat on Santa’s lap and told him all their Christmas wishes.
When asked what prompted Quality 1st Basement Systems to open their offices and go the extra mile in donating food and entertainment, Deborah Roman said, “It was just the right thing to do.”
