9/11 Memorial Donated by Quality 1st Basement Systems
When the mayor of Aberdeen, Fred Tagliarini, showed local businessman, Tom Roman, owner of Quality 1st Basement Systems, the 147 lb piece of steel that was once a part of the Twin Towers in New York City, Tom immediately offered to donate the materials and labor to build a memorial to support the artifact. System Design Specialist, Jessica Long from Quality 1st Contracting, immediately stepped up to help create the memorial.
Because of the weight of the steel, Tom used his experience in foundation support and suggested the artifact be mounted on a Helical Pier. Normally used to stablize foundations, the Helical Pier could be driven into the ground to offer security and support for the artifact. To finish the memorial, the Quality 1st Contracing crew got to work laying the brickwork to create a walk way and pedistal for the plaque.
The Quality 1st Contracting crew worked hard to complete the memorial to have everything ready for September 11th.
September 11th touched eveyone in the United States and especially those whose friends and relatives worked in the towers. Quality 1st is honored and humbled to have the opportunity to create Aberdeen's 9/11 memorial.
