Damp Basement in Millstone, NJ

Challenge

A homeowner living Millstone, NJ was experiencing high moisture and water in their basement. Luckily they discovered Quality 1st Basements in the Home Improvement Magazine and decided to call for a free waterproofing estimate. Upon inspection, System Design Specialist, Chris Bowe, noticed watermark along the walls and that overall the basement was damp and cold. This uncomfortable environment caused the family to avoid the basement at all cost. Chris recommended a full waterproofing system to keep the basement dry.

Solution

Quality 1st Foreman, Wilver and his crew drilled small holes into the foundation walls to drain the water that was seeping through into the basement causing the dampness. Once the walls were drained, the crew began installing WaterGuard along the entire perimeter. If water were to seep through in any section of the basement, the WaterGuard would collect and direct the water straight to the TripleSafe Sump pump. The TripleSafe has three levels of protection when it comes to waterproofing. There are three pumps inside, the first pump has enough power to pump up to 2,220 gallons of water per hour. The second pump is set a little bit higher to take over when the first pump can longer keep up with the amount of water coming in. The final pump set higher then the second one will automatically take over, pumping up to 11,200 gallons of water on a fully charged battery.

Lastly, the crew installed three IceGuards, to prevent any backflow of water into the basement in case the outside discharge pipes were to freeze. The openings at the top provide an alternative exit so that the sump pump is never overworked. The family was excited to finally use their basement again now that it is fully waterproofed. Since the homeowner was so pleased with the work done by Quality 1st, they now recommend us to their neighbors and friends.

WaterGuard drainage system is installed out of the mud zone to prevent any clogging of the drain.

Once the WaterGuard is installed, the crew covers the drain with cement to prevent any clogging or damage.

IceGuard is a discharge pipe that provides an alternative exit for the water in case the outside pipe were to freeze. With its openings at the top, water can exit instead of flowing back into the basement.
