Waterproof Basement in Bayonne, NJ
Challenge
A resident in Bayonne, New Jersey was experiencing flooding in their basement. This can be caused by backfill saturation. Backfill is the dirt outside of the basement walls and when it gets saturated, it puts hydrostatic pressure on the walls. Water then forces its way thorugh the foundation creating seepage on the walls and floors. Since the air from the basement flows to the upper levels of the home, damp basements have many negative effects such as, mold, smelly carpets, increased heating and cooling bills, and condensation.
Solution
The homeowner called Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, JC Gibriano, was able to help the homeowner find a solution that would keep their basement dry. He suggested a new sump pump, drainage system, and new walls to replace the damaged ones. Our foreman, Victor Leon, replaced the old sump pump with our SuperSump Pump System. This system will keep the basement dry and drain water out, even during heavy rainfall. Next, the foreman installed the WaterGuard Drain System which sits below the floor slab and rests on top of the foundation footing. This system will drain water away and into the sump pump system. Lastly, the foreman installed the EverLast Wall Paneling to restore the bottom half of the damaged drywall. These new panels give a fresh appearance, and will not be damaged by water.
