Waterproof Basement Walls in Brooklyn, NY
Challenge
A homeowner in Brooklyn, New York was experiencing water and moisture seeping into their basement walls and floors during periods of heavy rainfall. A common cause of this issue is the surrounding soil around the foundation. Water saturates the soil and during persistent rainfall, the saturated soil creates hydrostatic pressure. This pressure pushes moisture and water through the basement walls and floors. Excess moisture and water in a basement will increase the growth of mold, dust mites, and attract insects. The poor air quality in a basement can travel to the upper levels of the home and affect a homeowner's health badly.
Solution
The homeowner called Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, Javier Romero, provided an inspection of the home and designed a solution that would protect the basement from future water seepage and flooding. He suggested a half wall demo, new wall panels to replace the water-damaged drywall, and a French drain system. Our foreman, Wilver Cardoza, installed the EverLast Wall Panels. These panels are waterproof and mold-proof and will not be ruined by high humidity or plumbing leaks. Next, our foreman installed The WaterGuard Drain System, which is installed on top of the foundation footing to be kept out of the mud zone. This drain will not clog because of the placement and will catch water and drain it to the sump pump system.
