Basement Refinished with EverLast Wall Covering
Challenge
A Piscataway family was in the process of purchasing a new home and right before the closing date, the basement completely flooded. The water in the basement caused irreparable damage to the sheet rock. A contractor tore out the lower portion of the sheet rock to prepare for replacement. A Quality 1st Basement Systems System Design Specialist determined that water was coming in through various areas of the basement and that the sump pump had not been installed properly since it was not flush to the ground like it should be, furthering the basement waterproofing issues.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems noticed that additional areas of the sheet rock had been damaged during the basement flooding so we removed additional sheet rock and the bottom portion of the studs. Quality 1st Basement Systems installed the WaterGuard basement waterproofing system around the entire perimeter of the basement to prevent water from entering the basement. Also installed were two sump pumps as the homeowner wanted to have additional protection for her large basement. The TripleSafe Sump Pump, which contains three pumps in one (including a battery back-up pump), was installed in the main portion of the basement, and a SuperSafe Sump Pump was installed in the front portion to completely waterproof this basement.
Quality 1st Basement Systems reframed the bottom of the basement walls and installed EverLast Wall Coverings to restore the basement. EverLast wall panels are made of inorganic materials which means mold will not grow on them and they cannot be damaged by water. EverLast wall coverings look beautiful and easily wipe clean, making them the perfect solution to finishing this basement. This Piscataway family can now enjoy a dry, bright basement that was refinished in under a few days, and will be moving into the home shortly enjoying the additional living space provided by the basement!
