Basement Waterproofing in Staten Island, NY
Challenge
After heavy rains, a homeowner in Staten Island, NY seemed to always have water in his basement. The latest storm left his basement full of puddles, very humid, and unlivable. The humidity was causing some mold symptoms in the basement. Water also seemed to be coming in through the walls and the flooring. Upon inspection by a Quality 1st Basement Systems Design Specialist, lack of sump pump and proper drainage system was the cause of water in this basement.
Solution
To waterproof this basement, our System Design Specialist recommended the WaterGuard basement waterproofing system. WaterGuard is specifically designed so that it sits separately from the soil under the basement floor which means it will never clog. The wall flange creates a space between the wall and the floor to drain water that is seeping in through the walls. WaterGuard drains the water away and is never seen by the homeowner! In addition, the TripleSafe sump pump was installed to pump any water up and out of the basement.
Refinishing this Staten Island basement was completed with BrightWall panels. BrightWall panels are able to drain water leaks down behind the WaterGuard system without the homeowner even being aware. Water vapor is also not able to penetrate the BrightWall panels, keeping the basement dry and humidity free. BrightWall panels are made of inorganic materials which means they cannot grow mold, which means the basement will not create mold in the house. The panels are a great addition to this unfinished basement and really brighten up the look of the space!
