Flooded Basement Waterproofed in Spotswood
Challenge
A Spotswood homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement due to water in her basement. She was also interested in new flooring options for her basement. Upon inspection by a System Design Specialist, it was determined that the basement flooding was due to rain storms and had occurred in the basement multiple times unbeknownst to the homeowner. The sump pump also did not have a lid which was allowing water vapor to escape into the basement, making it wet and damp. A wet basement causes mold, so it was very important for this homeowner to waterproof her basement.
Solution
To waterproof her basement, Quality 1st Basement Systems installed a full perimeter WaterGuard basement waterproofing system and a SuperSump Ultra Sump. The WaterGuard system will keep the entire basement dry by draining water from the floor and the wall joint and underneath the floor to the SuperSump sump pump. The sump pump will pump the water out and away from the basement ensuring that it will stay dry. The UltraSump has an air tight lid, which means that no water vapor will escape from the sump. The battery back-up portion of the UltraSump will ensure that the sump pump continues to work during rain storms that cause power outages.
Since the WaterGuard system is placed on the footing of the foundation rather than in the dirt, it will never clog and fail the homeowner. The UltraSump can pump over 12,000 gallons on a full charge which means it will keep this basement dry during the heaviest of rain without a problem. This customer also purchased ThermalDry flooring to be installed at a later date. ThermalDry Flooring Systems are the only plastic, completely inorganic floor panels in existence. ThermalDry flooring will not be damaged by water, will not grow mold, and cannot be penetrated by water vapor from the ground. This Spotswood basement is now dry and waiting to be refinished by Quality 1st Basement Systems!
