Staten Island Basement Waterproofing
Challenge
Staten Island homeowner called Quality 1st Basement Systems because he was experiencing basement flooding and water seepage. The water in the basement caused the family to lose stored items, furniture, and personal belongings. Mold had also started to grow on the walls, and they had wood rot in their studs. The humidity in the basement was also affecting the family's living conditions and causing a musty smell throughout the basement which was seeping to the first floor. A System Design Specialist found evidence of ground water seepage through the walls and floors. Water was building around the foundation and coming through into the basement through the floor and wall joints during heavy rains.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems installed a WaterGuard basement waterproofing system to alleviate the problem of ground water seepage. The WaterGuard collects water at its direct access point, the TripleSafe sump pump system removes the water, the CleanSpace Vapor Barrier to protect their walls from seepage, and a SaniDry air system dries and cleans the air, leaving the basement dry. In addition, a flood ring was installed around the hot water heater to prevent any leakage from entering the rest of the basement
By installing a WaterGuard perimeter system, Quality 1st Basement Systems was able to give the homeowner a lifetime warranty against ground water seepage for the structure. WaterGuard sits on the footing which allows direct access to the water without any threat of clogging to the system. The TripleSafe Sump Pump system provides the homeowner with the ultimate protection, with all circumstances taken into account including mechanical failure, circuits tripping, excessive water, or power outages, giving the family peace of mind that this home is safe. CleanSpace is a vapor barrier fastened to the walls to drain any wall seepage down to the WaterGuard system, which comes equipped with an antimicrobial additive, UltraFresh, which helps to prepare the walls for finishing. Lastly, the Sani Dry air system was installed to dry and clean the air taking up to 110 pints of water out of the air a day while filtering the air down to 2 microns removing any dust mites, mold spores, and allergens, leaving this home fresh, dry, and healthy!
