Toms River Basement Remodeling and Waterproofing
Challenge
A Toms River homeowner was worried about leaving possessions in his basement, which was prone to flooding. There was already water-damage to the walls and floor, caused by a malfunctioning sump pump system. He wanted to be able to use the basement as a storage space without worrying about his stuff getting ruined.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems had the solutions for this homeowner! The crew removed the old, malfunctioning sump pump and installed the TripleSafe sump pump system, which comes with a back-up battery. This ensures it will always be able to drain water properly, even during a power outage. They also installed a WaterGuard to keep water flowing smoothly away from the home’s foundation and IceGuard to keep pipes from freezing during cold weather.
The team then installed CleanSpace liner, which is made of thick plastic that is fitted to the basement walls to protect from the elements. Since it is plastic, it is waterproof as well as mold resistant. The crew finished with ThermalDry Floor Matting, which is made up of modular floor tiles that snap together. These come in carpet or tile finishes, and variety of colors. Each ThermalDry tile has raised pegs underneath that create space, which prevents cold air as well as water from seeping through. Thus, the use of this flooring will help keep tempered air in the basement and reduce utility bills. It also gives the basement a sleek, finished look. Now this homeowner has a safe, dry space to store his possessions without fear of having them ruined!
