Foundation Repair in Yardley, PA
Challenge
A homeowner in Yardley, PA, contacted Quality 1st Basements regarding serious structural concerns in their home. The initial indication of trouble was the sagging of the crawl space ceiling, raising alarms about potential foundation issues. There was one wooden beam from a previous job that was proving ineffective in supporting the falling ceiling. Additionally, the crawl space was experiencing significant moisture problems, further complicating the situation. Recognizing these warning signs of potential structural instability, the homeowner understood the importance of seeking expert assistance to safeguard their home. During their communication with Quality 1st, the homeowner articulated concerns that the moisture in the crawl space was damaging the foundation, compromising the stability of their home. Given the seriousness of the situation, it was evident that prompt action was essential to prevent more extensive damage.
To tackle this urgent issue, the homeowner was referred to our System Design Specialist, Brandon Gullotti, who was assigned to diagnose the root cause and recommend a solution.
Solution
Our first step in addressing the issue was to conduct a thorough inspection of the property. Brandon, our experienced System Design Specialist, identified that the underlying cause of the sagging ceiling was a combination of moisture in the crawl space and inadequate support for the ceiling. After evaluating the situation, he proposed a comprehensive solution to tackle both the structural and moisture-related problems simultaneously.
To mitigate the moisture in the crawl space, we recommended the installation of CleanSpace, a heavy-duty liner specifically designed to encapsulate the entire area. This durable material creates a moisture-proof barrier, effectively eliminating excess moisture that was damaging the foundation. The CleanSpace system ensures that the crawl space remains dry, thereby preventing mold, rot, and further deterioration.
To address the sagging ceiling, we replaced the wooden beam with the SmartJack support system. These adjustable, galvanized steel piers were strategically positioned under the weakened ceiling to stabilize and lift it back to its original height. This system provides long-lasting support and safeguards against future sagging.
To maintain a dry and healthy air quality in the crawl space, we also installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. This energy-efficient system effectively manages high moisture levels, ensuring a dry environment year-round and preventing potential humidity-related issues.
The installation process was executed by our skilled production team, led by Foreman Ruben Jr., who worked diligently to ensure that each component of the system was installed to the highest standards. With these comprehensive solutions in place, the homeowner’s concerns regarding sagging floors and moisture buildup were promptly and efficiently addressed, providing peace of mind for years to come.
