Resolving Moisture Concerns In Media, PA Basement
Challenge
We recently assisted a homeowner in Media, PA, who had been struggling with ongoing moisture intrusion in their basement, particularly during heavy rainfall. With each storm, water would seep through the walls and floor, creating a damp and musty environment. Over time, this constant moisture led to the growth of mold and mildew, causing the homeowner concern about the health risks associated with the humidity. In addition, the moisture was damaging the walls, floors, and personal belongings stored in the basement. Despite using store bought dehumidifiers and sealing up visible cracks, the problem persisted, leaving the homeowner feeling frustrated and uncertain about how to solve the issue long-term. Realizing that they needed a more permanent solution, the homeowner contacted Quality 1st for help.
Solution
After a thorough inspection of the basement, our System Design Specialist identified the root causes of the moisture intrusion and provided a solution tailored to the specific needs of the space. To address the water seepage, we recommended installing our patented WaterGuard Drainage System along the perimeter of the basement floor. This system would efficiently capture water that entered the basement and direct it to a sump pump, preventing future flooding. To further protect the basement from moisture, we suggested installing our mold-resistant CleanSpace Wall Panels. These durable panels would act as a vapor barrier, preventing water from seeping through the foundation walls and adding a clean, bright finish to the basement. Additionally, we proposed the installation of our SuperSump Premier Sump Pump, which is specifically designed to handle heavy water removal and keep the basement dry, even during intense rainfall. We first installed the WaterGuard Drainage System around the perimeter of the basement floor, ensuring that it was positioned to capture water and channel it to the sump pump. We then applied the CleanSpace Wall Panels to the basement walls, carefully sealing them to ensure moisture would be blocked from seeping in. Finally, we installed the SuperSump Premier Sump Pump in a strategic location, ensuring that it would quickly and effectively remove any water that entered the system. With its high-performance pump, the SuperSump would be able to handle large volumes of water and keep the basement dry, no matter how heavy the rainfall. With the installation complete, the homeowner was thrilled to see an immediate improvement. The basement was completely transformed, now dry, healthy, and protected from further water intrusion!
