Leaking Bilco Door in Monmouth County, NJ
Challenge
This basement in Long Branch, NJ had begun leaking so the homeowner contact Quality 1st Basement Systems for an inspection in her basement. During the inspection, John noticed that water was leaking in through the Bilco basement door. There were puddles throughout the basement, and the homeowner had towels around the Bilco entrance to stop the water from getting into the basement.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems first installed a partial WaterGuard System along one wall of the basement. Around the Bilco entrance, a combination of WaterGuard and trench drain was used to waterproof the area. The SuperSump sump pump completed the basement waterproofing system which discharged the water away from the home. The sump pump pumped the water far away from the home with the use of a LawnScape outlet.
WaterGuard basement waterproofing system works by keeping the basement dry along the areas where water typically comes into the basement. It also relieves hydrostatic pressure from the wall protecting the foundation. The SuperSump has an airtight lid which prevents moisture from going back into the basement. The SuperSump sump pump was insalled in the basement to discharge water quickly and efficiently. The Trench Drain was installed to make sure the basement stayed dry in the area around the Bilco door. The LawnScape outlet discharges the water far away from the home's foundation and was installed discreetly in the lawn. LawnScape blends in with the grass, but the homeowner can still go over the LawnScape with the lawn mower! Since the install, it has snowed, rained, and then the snow thawed; the basement has been dry ever since!
