Basement Waterproofing in East Brunswick, NJ
Challenge
This homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems because his basement was flooded. He explained to System Design Specialist, Ken Peare, that what had started out as a small water problem progressed over the last few years which made the basement unusable. The basement was used as storage but since half of the floor was now covered with water, it became unusable. Upon inspection, Ken saw large water puddles across the entire basement floor. The walls were stained and chalky, which are both signs of long-term water penetration. The basement had a strong wet smell with high relative humidity. There was also an uncovered sump pump pit which was very dirty, not effective, and the discharge line was pieced together incorrectly.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems installed a full interior perimeter WaterGuard system which includes a TripleSafe sump pump system, IceGuard, LawnScape outlet, and downspout extensions. The WaterGuard interior basement drainage system will relieve the water pressure from the floor wall joint and drain the water to the TripleSafe sump pump. The TripleSafe battery backup sump pump works to pump out water under any circumstance.
The IceGuard will prevent frozen discharge lines to keep this basement dry all of the time. The LawnScape outlet will pump the water away from the home's structure so that no additional hydrostatic pressure is placed on the foundation. This system will keep the whole basement dry all of the time. The system has left a very happy customer that has already taken full advantage of her dry below ground space by cleaning out all of the closets and attics that were overloaded with storage, and neatly situating them in her dry clean basement. The team was able to truly restore this previously unusable large amount of space into a fresh basement that adds a lot of room back to this home!
