Water In Finished Basement
At first look, it doesn't appear like there is anything wrong with this basement. However; the homeowner noticed and worried about the little black spots showing up along the bottom of the wall. Could it be mold?
Old Sump Pump
In this picture you can see the black spots that the homeowner was so worried about and she was correct. It was in fact mold since drywall is made up of organic material and if the humidity levels in a below ground space are not controlled, mold will grow on wood, paper and other organic material. Notice the old sump pump that is hidden in a makeshift box. Would you want that in your basement?
Basement Waterproofing In Progress
If you have a finished basement but you never waterproofed it, this will become a common sight. As water enters your basement, it wets the wood beams and the paper of your drywall and as we know, humidity and organic materials are the basic requirements for mold to grow. That means that you will need to regularly replace the bottom of your drywall and the wooden studs. Our WaterGuard drainage system will keep the basement dry and allow you to finish it as well though we strongly recommend using the right materials for that. See here what we mean by that.
Water Stains On Basement Floor
We would all like to use the extra space that a basement provides and we all have different ideas of what we would like to use it for. However; while there is water entering your basement, it is rendered useless as you can see in this picture. Notice the water stains on this basement floor where water accumulated. Until that is taken care of, we do not recommend using your basement for anything other than - well, nothing really.
Perimeter Drain Installed
In this picture you can really see where the water entered this basement. The way that homes are built creates an environment around the foundation that collects water at the base of the foundation wall. One of the ways to relieve that pressure is for the water to seep through your concrete walls and into the basement. No more worries though! WaterGuard is installed to drain that water away and keep this basement dry ALL the time!
Waterproofing System
Now that our WaterGuard System is installed along the perimeter of the room, any water that enters the basement through the walls will be collected in the drainage system and guided to our powerful TripleSafe sump pump. Once the concrete dries it is almost impossible to tell that we did any work on this basement.
Trench Drain Installed
The homeowner in this Ridgefield Park basement was under the impression that it is common to have water spots and puddles in her basement as seen in this picture. We installed this Trench Drain at the entrance to stop the water from entering and by hooking it up to the rest of the drainage system, we made sure there were no more puddles in this basement!
IceGuard Discharge System
Our IceGuard Drainage System makes sure the water drains away in all kinds of weather. It is important to get the water out of the basement but it is also just as important to make sure that it has somewhere to go when the discharge lines freeze in the winter.
