A homeowner in Mountainside, New Jersey noticed water was entering their basement through the walls. This can happen because of loose soil surrounding the foundation. When this soil becomes saturated during heavy rainfall, it begins to create hydrostatic pressure, which pushes water and moisture through the walls and floor. A wet basement can have many negative effects such as increased heating and cooling bills, musty odors, mold, and severe water damage. The homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, Jay Alvarez, was able to help them with a plan. He suggested they install a sump pump system and a French drain system. Our foreman, Mario Barron installed the TripleSafe Sump Pump System. A sump pump is a vital system in having a dry basement. TripleSafe has three pumps built into a twin liner and also has an airtight and enclosed lid to prevent moisture from entering the basement. In case of a power outage, the third pump will kick in and can pump out 11,500 gallons on one charged battery. Next, the foreman installed the WaterGuard Drain System along the perimeter of the basement floor. As water seeps through the foundation walls, WaterGuard collects and directs the water straight to the sump pump system to be drained out of the basement and away from the home. This is installed above the foundation footing. This area is considered out of the mud zone to prevent clogging and damage. Now, the homeowner does not have to worry about water damage in their basement.
