Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Waterproofing Basement in Bronx, NY
A homeowner in Bronx, New York noticed water was coming in through their basement floors and walls. This can happen because there is loose backfilled soil around a home's foundation. Over time, this loose soil becomes saturated during heavy rainfall and creates hydrostatic pressure that pushes water through the walls and the floors. This can have many negative effects such as dust mites, musty smells, mold, and even pests and insects.
The homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, Joe Mancini, was able to provide an inspection of the home and help them find a plan to fix this issue. He suggested a new sump pump system, a French drain system, a dehumidifier, and a vapor barrier to be installed along the basement walls. Our foreman, Juan Garcia, installed the TripleSafe Sump Pump System which has an airtight enclosed lid, so moisture cannot get into the basement. This pump will effectively pump out water and has three pumps, the third being a battery-operated pump that will kick in if the power goes out. Next, the foreman installed the SaniDry Dehumidifier that will circulate the air in the basement to keep it dry. Next, the foreman installed the CleanSpace Vapor Barrier System along the basement walls. This system is thick like a pool liner and will prevent moisture from getting in through the walls. Lastly, the foreman installed the WaterGuard Drain System which sits on top of the foundation footing and underneath the slab. This system catches any water in the floor and drains it to the sump pump system.
WaterGuard Installation Process
WaterGuard is installed under the slab and on top of the foundation footing. This keeps it out of the "mud zone" to prevent it from clogging.
Dehumidifier
The Dehumidifier will remove particles in the air and circulate the basement air to keep it dry.
Sump Pump and Dehumidifier
The TripleSafe Sump Pump and SaniDry Dehumidifier work together to keep the basement dry, healthy and protected.
CleanSpace Moisture Vapor Barrier
CleanSpace will hold back water vapor from passing through the foundation walls.
