No one wants the negative effects of a wet basement such as musty smells, pests, and even mold growth. This homeowner in Cranford, New Jersey called Quality 1st Basement Systems after noticing moisture seeping through their basement walls and floors. This happens because the soil around the foundation is loose and becomes saturated during heavy rainfall. Our System Design Specialist, Dane Cuccinello, provided an inspection and suggested they waterproof the basement. Our foreman, Mario Barron, began by installing the CleanSpace Wall Vapor Barrier. This is a water and mold-resistant liner that provides insulation to the basement to keep it dry. Next, Mario installed the WaterGuard Drain System which will collect water and drain it to the sump pump. Mario also installed the TripleSafe Sump Pump System which will effectively pump water out of the basement, and also has a backup battery to kick in if the power goes out. WaterGuard Installation Process

The process of installing WaterGuard can be completed within a day. WaterGuard is placed on top of the foundation footing to be kept out of the mud zone. This placement will ensure that the drain will not get clogged with dirt.

CleanSpace and WaterGuard Installed

CleanSpace Wall System will hold back water vapor passing through the foundation walls, and direct it to the sump pump. WaterGuard collects water that seeps through basement walls and drains it to the sump pump.

TripleSafe Sump Pump Installed

TripleSafe has three pumps all protected inside one liner to prevent damage and clogging. TripleSafe also has an airtight enclosed lid that will prevent water vapor from rising into the basement air. This sump pump also has an alarm that will alert the homeowner in the event of an emergency.
