Slab Cracking and Settlement in Long Branch, NJ
Challenge
The homeowner of a single family home decided to contact Quality 1st Basement Systems when he noticed settling and sunken concrete slabs at his Long Branch home. The basement slab of the 2,440 square foot home experienced settlement which resulted in cracking and separation from the interior walls as much as 3-4 inches. The homeowner initially began noticing the cracks and settlement after Hurricane Sandy hit the Jersey Shore. His home was located roughly 100 feet from the waterfront area of Long Branch. The cracked and settling slabs began to alarm the homeowner for the value, safety, and visibility of the lower level of his home.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems remedied the homeowner’s problem by using the PolyLEVELTM Polyurethane Injection System. The Quality 1st team drilled a quarter size hole into the settling and cracked parts of the concrete slab. They used the specialized equipment to inject the polyurethane under the concrete and raise it back to its original elevation. With the use of the PolyLEVELTMsystem, exclusively available to Foundation Supportworks dealers, Quality 1st Basement Systems was able to lift and stabilize the settling concrete. The PolyLEVELTM system was installed in less than one day, with no mess left behind. This fast installation process gave the homeowner peace of mind and left him very happy knowing that his family can safely utilize their total living space.
