Sinking Concrete Leveled in Hamilton Township, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner living in Hamilton, NJ contacted Quality 1st Basements for a solution to the sinking and settling sidewalk they had in the front of their home. Our Customer Service Representative, sent Concrete Repair Specialist, Jeff Pitek out to inspect the settlement. Jeff notice the sidewalk had settled more then an inch causing a tripping hazard. He explained to the homeowner that although concrete is a very strong and durable material, it does have a lifespan. Over time the concrete slab will settle because the soil below is poorly compacted and can no longer hold the weight or the soil is simply too wet or too dry. She knew that replacing the concrete slab would be costly and the slab would no longer match the rest of the sidewalk. Jeff recommended PolyLevel System, for the foam would lift and level the concrete slab, causing no disturbance to the area around it and would permanently stabilize the slab.
Solution
Project Manager, Arturo met the homeowner on the day of the installation. He introduced his crew and explained exactly what was being accomplished. Arturo then had his crew begin preparing the concrete slab for the PolyLevel installation. The crew began drilling small penny-size holes into the sinking slabs. Using specialized equipment, the polymer foam is injected into the voids under the settled slab. The foam begins to expand filling the voids and raising the concrete slab back to level. Once the voids are filled, the polymer foam begins to harden to stabilize the slab. Within just fifteen minutes, the slab could be walked on or driven over. The homeowner was amazed at the installation process and how easy the clean up was. She appreciated how professional the Quality 1st crew was and personally thanked Arturo for removing her trip hazard.
