Crawl Space Encapsualtion in River Edge, NJ
Challenge
A homeowner in River Edge, New Jersey was experiencing a bad musty smell in their house coming from their air conditioning unit. They contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, JC Gibriano, inspected the home. During his inspection, JC found that the crawl space was the root of the issue. This can happen because the damp air from the dirt floor in the crawl space travels up to the first floor, and then the second floor. The musty odor was from the dampness in the space. This became an issue because the homeowner's were breathing in this air.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems sent out our foreman, Luis Aguirre, to install the CleanSpace Moisture Vapor Barrier System in the dirt crawl space. This system essentially isolates the house from the Earth. CleanSpace is a liner that is built for brute tear resistance, and will also keep out humidity and water. Luis Aguirre and his crew removed rocks, leveled uneven surfaces and carefully fit and installed the system. It is permanently held in place with drilled in fasteners and spikes. Luis Aguirre also sealed off the outside air vent with the EverLast door, to prevent any outside elements from getting into the crawl space. Now this crawl space is free from condensation, mold, insects, and unhealthy living conditions.
