SmartJack Installed in Brick to Stabilize Crawl Space
Challenge
A homeowner in Brick was looking to renovate his home but worried about that the main support beam in his crawl space was settling and causing cracks in the drywall above. He called Quality 1st Basement Systems for their free estimate. It turned out the main beam was inadequately supported when it was built; the concrete support blocks were not strong enough and had been spaced too far apart. Over time, that poor building had resulted in the beam failing and causing issues for the floor joists and walls above.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems had the answer for this Brick homeowner. The crew installed 150 feet of supplemental beam to support the floor joists and 12 SmartJack Crawl Space Stabilizers. These were to help support the main beam as well as the new beams and lifted the sagging floor back to its original position. This will prevent any further sinking of the floors and cracking in the walls.
The SmartJack Crawl Space Stabilizers are steel support systems that can support loads up to 60,000 lbs, which make them ideal for holding up homes. The SmartJacks are galvanized steel, which means the system will not be compromised by corrosion due to the elements. The homeowner was very happy with the solution by Quality 1st Basement Systems and can now enjoy renovations without the worry of sinking floors or cracked walls!
