CleanSpace Liner Lowers Utility Costs in Manasquan
Challenge
This homeowner in Manasquan noticed that there was a musty smell in her crawl space. At times, the smell would permeate through the floor and enter other areas of her home. Quality 1st Basement Systems inspected the crawl space and determined that the moisture from the earth was entering the crawl space and causing humidity issues. Humidity in a crawl space can cause mold and foundation issues, which will continue to deteriorate the rest of the home if left untreated.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems installed the CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation System to seal off this crawl space. CleanSpace is a 20 mil thick plastic liner that is fitted around the crawl space to create a healthy and dry space. Since CleanSpace is made of plastic, which is an inorganic material, it is not susceptible to mold growth. CleanSpace also has an antimicrobial additive in the material which means that it will further prevent mold growth.
The Quality 1st Basement Systems installation team also installed SilverGlo crawl space insulation to insulate the crawl space. SilverGlo insulation has a radiant barrier that will reflect heat back into the crawl space which will transfer heat to the rest of the house. Less cold air in the crawl space means less cold air in the rest of the house which means lower utility bills for this homeowner!
