Transforming a Damp Crawl Space in Ewing, NJ
Challenge
In Ewing, NJ, a homeowner faced a common yet often overlooked issue: an excessively damp crawl space. Over time, the high humidity in the crawl space had damaged the fiberglass insulation, causing it to sag and lose its effectiveness. This moisture problem not only compromised the insulation but also posed risks to the overall health of the home, including potential mold growth, structural damage, and energy inefficiency. The homeowner was unaware of the full extent of the issues until they noticed the sagging insulation and the musty smell emanating from below. They needed a reliable solution to address both the moisture intrusion and the compromised insulation, preventing future damage and creating a healthier living environment.
Solution
To resolve this issue, Quality 1st Basement Systems sent our System Design Specialist, Andrew, to perform a thorough inspection of the crawl space. Upon evaluation, it was clear that a two-pronged approach would be necessary to fully address the problems. The first solution involved the installation of CleanSpace, a durable, bright white crawl space liner. CleanSpace is designed to lock out moisture, pests, and outside air, transforming the crawl space into a dry, clean environment. The second solution was the application of SilverGlo insulation panels. These insulated panels were strategically placed along the walls of the crawl space to keep cold air out and warmth in, further preventing condensation and moisture buildup.
By combining the power of CleanSpace with SilverGlo, the Quality 1st team was able to not only restore the insulation’s effectiveness but also eliminate the root cause of the problem: excess moisture. The result was a dry, insulated crawl space that improved the homeowner's indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and overall peace of mind.
