Cold crawl space insulation in Forked River, NJ
Challenge
This homeowner called Quality 1st Basement Systems because he had a crawlspace in his home that always felt cold, and he noticed that very cold drafts were coming from the crawlspace in his living room upstairs. During the inspection, Jessica noted that the crawl space was an unhealthy environment in the home. The insulation in the crawl space ceiling was failing the floor joists, and there was a steady cool airflow through the crawlspace. The customer wanted to make his home more comfortable without having extra on his heating bills.
Solution
The installation team from Quality 1st Basement Systems tackled the crawl space issues at the source by installing SilverGlo crawl space insulation, CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation system, and vent covers in the crawl space. SilverGlo insulation was placed on the foundation walls to stop the cold from entering the crawl space and reflect heat back into the home. CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation system was installed throughout the crawl space to isolate the crawl space from the damp dirt floor and cold concrete walls. The CleanSpace vent cover seals crawl space vents permanently from the outside to stop the unwanted outside air and critters from entering the crawl space.
This crawl space repair prevented the cold from entering the rest of the home and the drafts that were occurring in the rooms upstairs were eliminated. The heating ducts were protected and are now going to last longer because the there is no longer any moisture in the air to rust the metal structure. The cold air that once ran through the crawl space will no longer cool the warm air that is circulating throughout the heating system which will save the homeowner additional money by lowering monthly payments to the energy companies.
