Crawl Space Encapsulation System & Dehumidified Installed in Browns Mills, NJ
Challenge
This homeowner in Browns Mill, NJ contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems to have an inspector identify why his crawl space was always damp and musty. System Design Specialist, Collin Peare, inspected this homeowner's crawl space and found that the stone floor and concrete walls were not encapsulated. This home had an existing sump pump that stuck out of the ground 2.5 feet and the block foundation walls had signs of water penetration as the blocks were dark and wet. The humidity levels were tested in this crawl space and the relative humidity level was at 75% which is very high.
Solution
Upon inspection, the installation team from Quality 1st Basement Systems fixed his damp and wet crawl space with the correct repair solutions that work. The CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation System liner was installed to completely isolate the home from the earth below. The liner also has a bright white finished side to make the crawl space in this home bright. A SaniDry CX Crawl Space Air Dehumidifying System was used with the CleanSpace liner to drastically reduce the humidity levels by purifying and dehumidifying the air in the unhealthy crawl space. CleanSpace Drainage Matting was placed underneath the CleanSpace crawl space liner to give water coming from the earth below a path to the SuperSump Sump Pump.
Installing the SuperSump Sump Pump with an IceGuard attachment to the discharge line was the final step to waterproofing the crawl space by pumping out water that has been channeled by the CleanSpace Drainage Matting away from the home. A CleanSpace Vent Cover was installed to stop the outside air from entering the crawl space and effectively maintaining low humidity levels all year round. A CleanSpace Vent Cover also saves this homeowner money by reducing heating, and cooling bills by sealing off the cold winter gusts or hot summer air from mixing with the temperature regulated air inside the home. A vented crawl space that has not been encapsulated allows moisture to enter the crawl space. Approximately 80% of the air that circulates throughout the home comes from the crawl space.
This crawl space has been dehumidified with the SaniDry CX Crawl Space Air Dehumidifier system and encapsulated with the full CleanSpace Crawl Space Encapsulation System. This crawl space will no longer have a damp and musty smell coming from the crawl space. This homeowner was very happy and received everything needed to ensure that the crawl space in his home does not have any further problems in regards to moisture, unconditioned air, and ground water from reaching the crawl space floor level.
