Crawl Space Encapsulation in Fair Hills, NJ
Challenge
This Far Hills homeowner was having water, and moisture problems after heavy rains in his crawl space. This homeowner had inspector Rick Ludlow from Quality 1st Basement Systems inspect his crawl space, and he concluded that the crawl space had a high relative humidity level which needed to be addressed quickly. To fix the moisture issue in this crawl space, inspector Rick recommended that the crawl space needed to be permanently sealed off from the elements.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems fixed this crawl space by installing CleanSpace crawl space vapor barrier on the walls and floors which is used to isolate the crawl space from the earth. The CleanSpace crawl space encapsulation system also prevents water vapor from entering the home. To keep this homeowner's crawlspace floor free from odors and mold, drainage matting was placed underneath the CleanSpace which allows water to drain into the UltraSump Sump Pump. The UltraSump Sump Pump that was installed is a reliable cast iron pump, and it features a study liner with an airtight lid that doesn’t allow water vapors to escape into the crawl space.
TerraBlock, flexible foam crawl space insulation was used to insulate the crawl space floor underneath the CleanSpace liner. TerraBlock features two vapor barriers to keep the crawl space floors dry and comfortable all year round. SilverGlo crawl space insulation was installed on the walls for additional energy savings by reflecting heat back into this home’s crawl space. Three CleanSpace crawl space vent covers were installed in this crawl space to keep the temperature regulated air inside the home and the unwanted outside air out. The CleanSpace crawl space vent covers do not allow moist air to enter the crawl space which keeps the air inside dry. Dirt crawl spaces like the one featured in this home do not have to be wet or flooded to be extremely unhealthy. Quality 1st Basement Systems provided this homeowner with a dry crawl space which prevents the growth of mold, insects, and critters of any kind. This homeowner has also experienced lower energy bills, and the homeowner is now comfortable entering the crawl space of his home.
