Crawl Space Flood Repair in Basking Ridge, NJ
Challenge
Two new homeowners in Basking Ridge, New Jersey ran into trouble when their brand new dream home sprang a leak in the crawlspace. One small trickle of water turned into several and flooded the floor of the crawl space, so they called Quality 1st Basement Systems. The water left the house smelling damp and raised the humidity to uncomfortable levels. Ron Michaels inspected the house and found an old PVC drain system and a faulty sump pump which was discharging water directly into the crawl space. Because of the inadequate system and leaking crawl space, Ron put together a plan for these homeowners that included a new system that would keep the homeowner’s new property dry and healthy.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems installed a new TripleSafe sump pump. The TripleSafe sump pump has a battery back up and an air tight that cover prevents moisture from getting into the crawl space and keeps water out of the crawlspace creating a healthier home environment. The old drainage system was not properly draining the water, which was causing leaks. Quality 1st Basement Systems installed a brand new WaterGuard waterproofing system. The WaterGuard drains water from the wall joints, the wall, and the floor and redirects it to the TripleSafe sump pump, which then safely deposits the water outside. Quality 1st Basement Systems dug a trench 50 feet away from the home for the water to travel to, keeping it far away from the property and out of the crawlspace. Now the water deposits into the swale behind the house, where it should be. WaterGuard is a patented design that works better than outmoded drain systems. It will never clog, rust, or corrode, and captures water better than the competition.
Now that the water collects outside the house, it no longer smells or feels damp inside, even on the most humid days. The homeowners are free to enjoy their new house without worrying about water damage or leaking. Buying a home is stressful enough, and now they can relax knowing that it will stay dry and beautiful. Six months later, the homeowners called Quality 1st Basements to inspect their basement as well, because they know that Quality 1st products work.
