Quality 1st was able to transform this dirty, cold crawl space into a warm, dry area by installing a Vapor Barrier System. The crawl space was covered in debris and dirt, it was cold and at one point had pests living in there. The cold air in the crawl space was traveling up to the first level of the home making the floor cold and uncomfortable. There were also cracks in the foundation of the basement area which were signs of shifting and settling. System Design Specialist, Mike Jersey, recommended PowerBraces to stabilize the foundation to prevent further movement and damage to the home. The PowerBraces are easily adjustable and allow for tightening to attempt to put the wall back to its original position. Mike also recommended sealing off the crawl space from any outside environment that may cause damage to the crawl space and structure of the home. By installing a Vapor Barrier System, the crawl space will be protected against water, pests, humidity and resistant against mold, rotting and water vapor.

The liner is mold and moisture resistant which will protect the structure of the foundation. A Crawl Space SmartSump pump system was also installed to assure the crawl space will always stay dry.

Discharge Drain

Quality 1st always places the discharge drain at least 15 feet away from the foundation instead of right along the foundation to prevent a continuous cycle of flowing water back into the basement.

Mike found several cracks in the foundation of the home. If these types of cracks are ignore, the foundation will continue to shift and settle making the home dangerous for anyone living inside.
