Wall Stabilization and Waterproofing in Point Pleasant, NJ
Challenge
This homeowner in Point Pleasant, NJ noticed horizontal cracks in the foundation on the far side of the basement. These cracks were signs that the foundation needed to be stabilized to prevent future structural issues or damage. The wet soil was causing hydrostatic pressure against the foundation causing it to shift and crack. If the wall wasn't stabilized soon, it would crack more and potentially bow in ward. They also wanted to address some water concerns they had after noticing a lot of wet spots and dampness throughout the basement.
We sent our Senior System Design Specialist, Ken Peare, out to do a full inspection and design a solution to provide the ultimate solution to the water and the foundation cracks based on what he found.
Solution
Ken recommended stabilizing the foundation wall with our CarbonArmor Wall Reinforcing System. This is the best solution for walls suffering with beginning stages of foundation failure. Each CarbonArmor Strap is made out of flexible carbon fiber fabric which is 10 times stronger in tension than steel. Each strap is carefully bonded to the interior wall with a strong epoxy. The straps will stabilize the wall and prevent further cracking and future damage. Ken recommended 8 CarbonArmor Straps in total would permanently stabilize the wall.
Next, Our TripleSafe Sump Pump System was installed to protect the basement of this size. Our TripleSafe Sump Pump System has three pumps that sit on their own stands inside a protective liner to prevent damage or clogging. As our French Drain System known as WaterGuard, collects and directs all water seepage directly to the sump pump.
