Foundation settlement fixed with piering
Challenge
A homeowner in Spotswood noticed some cracks along the exterior of his home. He was concerned, as this was a sign of foundation settlement. Foundation settlement can occur at any time and has to do with the soil either shrinking, softening, or loosening below the home's foundation. It means that a home will move because the soil, due to whatever reason, cannot support the weight of the home. He decided to call Quality 1st Basement Systems to see what could be done to fix his foundation settlement issue.
Solution
Quality 1st Basement Systems had the solution for this settling home! The crew excavated the soil closest to the home to expose the footing. Then the team drove in steel push piers. Steel push piers, also called Resistance Piers, are driven deep into the soil to ensure stability A heavy-duty steel bracket is installed below and against the foundation’s footing, and then steel pier sections are hydraulically pushed through the bracket to the bedrock. The weight of the home was transferred through these piers to the competent soil below and the excavated soil was backfilled.
These push piers are a great choice because they are made of steel and thus are durable and reliable. These piers help to raise the home to its original position or stabilize it at the current position. The best part about these piers is that they come with a 25 year warranty against manufacturers defects, as well as our own in-house performance warranty. Now this homeowner can rest easy with the knowledge that his home's foundation has been stabilized!
