Resolving Foundation Concerns In Lake Hiawatha, NJ Crawl Space
Challenge
Recently a homeowner in Lake Hiawatha, NJ, began to notice troubling signs of foundation settlement in their home, including sagging floors, uneven surfaces, and musty odors. The source of these issues was traced to their crawl space, where water seepage had caused the soil to become saturated over time. The moisture intrusion was not only contributing to the settlement of their foundation but was also creating an unhealthy environment. Mold and mildew had begun to form, and the air quality in the home had noticeably worsened. Concerned about the long-term damage this could cause to the structure of the house, the homeowner reached out to Quality 1st for a permanent solution.
Solution
To resolve the issue, our team implemented a comprehensive solution. First, we installed our patented Drainage Matting across the crawl space floor. The drainage matting, with its perforated design, allowed water to flow freely beneath the surface, effectively managing the moisture and preventing further accumulation under the foundation. Next, we covered the entire crawl space with our CleanSpace Vapor Barrier System, which provided an airtight seal to block water vapor, eliminate humidity, and keep the area dry. This step ensured that the moisture problem was permanently addressed, while also improving indoor air quality and preventing further mold growth. Finally, to address the foundation settlement, we installed our SmartJack Reinforcement System. The SmartJacks were strategically placed beneath the sagging beams, and we adjusted them to lift and level the floors, restoring structural integrity to the home. With the combination of the Drainage Matting, CleanSpace Vapor Barrier, and SmartJack System, the crawl space was transformed into a dry, stable, and healthy environment. The homeowner was relieved to see their foundation restored and their home protected from further water damage, ensuring long-lasting peace of mind!
