Settling Problem in Philadelphia
Challenge
This old row home experienced the perfect storm of undermining. Several years back the building experienced a water main break which caused some major settling. During the backfill of that repair it is believed that the sewer main was damaged. Again, undermining the soil under the building. At this time now the building has settled several inches at this corner.
Solution
Foundation Support Works of NJ recommended underpinning the stone wall to create a solid footing and then install 9 model 288 Foundation Support Works Push Piers. The underpinning was done in 3' increments over several days. After proper cure time the 9 Push piers were installed to stabilize the foundation. Installed one Lolli column in front old stone support.
During the excavation Foundation Support Works discovered two other plumbing leaks under the old stone foundation. The owners plumbers were brought in to make the necessary repairs. The underpinning installed was all tied together and our 9 piers were driven down to solid rock to support the building.
