September 11th Memorial in Aberdeen, NJ
Challenge
Aberdeen had acquired a 147 lb piece of steel from the World Trade Center and wanted to create a September 11th Memorial for those from town who had lost their lives that day. Mayor Fred Taglarini asked Tom Roman, owner of Quality 1st Basement Systems, for help. Tom was happy to step up and donate the materials and labor to create the memorial for the town.
Solution
Because of the weight of the steel, Tom used his experience in foundation support and suggested the artifact be mounted on a Helical Pier. The Helical Pier could be driven into the ground to offer security and support for the artifact. Helical Piers are also used to stabilize light structures like decks or concrete stairs and can lift settled foundations back to their original level.
To finish the memorial, the Quality 1st Contracing crew got to work laying the brickwork to create a walk way and pedistal for the 9/11 plaque that would be mounted next to the artifact.
The Quality 1st Contracting crew worked hard to complete the memorial to have everything ready for the September 11th Memorial ceremony.
September 11th touched eveyone in the United States and especially those whose friends and relatives worked in the towers. Quality 1st is honored and humbled to have the opportunity to create Aberdeen's 9/11 memorial.
