Vertical Cracks in Wayne, NJ
Challenge
The single family 2,670 square foot home became a major concern to the homeowners when they noticed vertical cracks on the exterior of the foundation. After doing some research on their own, the homeowners were fairly certain they had a foundation settlement problem on their hands. Feeling alarmed about the safety and value of their home they knew they needed to find someone who could solve their problems permanently.
Solution
After carefully reviewing their options, the homeowners chose Quality 1st Basement Systems install five (5) Model 288 Foundation Supportworks Push Piers. The piers were placed 2 feet from the corner of the home and on either side of the significant vertical cracks on the foundation wall. The soil was excavated away from the walls and L-shaped brackets were positioned against the home’s footing. Steel piers were then driven through the bracket to a competent load-bearing strata. All cracks in the work area were cleaned and sealed neatly, and the entire job was completed in just one day. The installation of the five (5) push piers stabilized and lifted the settled area of the home. The lawn and landscaping around the home were left in excellent condition. The homeowner was extremely pleased with the results as well as the efficiency and cleanliness of the Quality 1st Basement Systems crew.
