Foundation Repair in Little Egg Harbor, NJ

A homeowner in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey was experiencing foundation settlement. Their walls were cracking and separating in the foundation. This happens because over time, the soil supporting the home changes, becoming very soft or very dry. This leads to the soil weakening and affecting the home's foundation. If gone unrepaired, it can lead to the home needing a bigger repair in the future, which will be more costly.

The homeowner called Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, Joe Mancini, was able to provide an inspection and help them find a solution to fix this issue. Upon his inspection, Joe noticed how the foundation was settling and cracking. Joe suggested a pier system that will stabilize the home to its original position.

Our foreman, Jonathan Neira, arrived at the home and started to fix the home's foundation. He installed the Steel Push Pier System under the home. This is done by first removing the soil around the foundation's footing and placed a specially engineered bracket. Then, the steel pier sections are hydraulically driven through the bracket to bedrock. Then, the weight of the home is transferred through the steel bracket and onto the new bedrock, lifting the home back to its original position. The soil is backfilled to hide the entire system, and the foundation repair is fully complete.

When the job was complete, the homeowner was pleased with the outcome. Their home was stabilized and they did not have to worry about any costly repairs to fix the foundation settlement.

Concrete Walkway Repair in Barnegat, NJ

A homeowner in Barnegat, New Jersey saw that their walkway was shifting and becoming unlevel. This happens because concrete is sometimes poured over loose backfilled soil. Over time, this soil settles and creates voids under the concrete slab. Another common issue is the erosion of soil under the slab. Water runs down through the cracks in the concrete and washes the soil out as it passes through. This can be a dangerous safety hazard because a friend or family member can walk on this walkway, trip and fall, and hurt themselves.

The homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, Joe Mancini, helped them with a plan to fix this issue. He suggested they use a polyurethane foam under the concrete slab, to lift and level it.

Our foreman, Sean Johnson, used the PolyLevel Injection System to be injected under the slab. This is done by drilling small, penny-sized holes into the slab and injected the polyurethane foam into the voids. The foam has expanding properties that will lift the slab and make it even. PolyLevel has minimal disturbance and does not disrupt the existing concrete. It is also environmentally friendly, lightweight, and waterproof. Now, the homeowner can walk into their home safely without tripping.

Afterward, she presented her findings to the homeowner and suggested the Polylevel Injection method would be the perfect repair solution.

Concrete Porch Repair in Little Egg Harbor, NJ

A homeowner in Little Egg Harbor, NJ contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems after discovering their concrete porch was sinking an inch. We scheduled an appointment for our System Design Specialist, Laura McIntyre, to inspect the problem and provide a quote for the homeowner.

Laura arrived at the home, on time, and inspected the concrete porch. Afterward, she presented her findings to the homeowner and mentioned our Polylevel Injection would be the perfect repair method. It has better results than mudjacking and is safer to use.

Unlike mudjacking, polylevel is not a mixture of concrete and mud, but rather a foam made from structural graded polymers. Polylevel is also waterproof, environmentally friendly, and has a quick recovery time of fifteen minutes.

Pool Deck Repair in Barnegat, NJ

A Barnegat, NJ homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems after discovering their pool deck was in need of repair. Before closing the pool, the homeowner found multiple concrete slabs were sinking, creating tripping hazards and an uneven look for the entire deck. After speaking with our customer service representative, the homeowner scheduled an appointment with our System Design Specialist, Chris Bowe.

Chris arrived at the home, on time, and measured the sinking concrete slabs. By measuring the height of the concrete slab, our crew can indicate how high the slab needs to be raised. After inspecting the entire perimeter, Chris presented his findings to the homeowner and recommended the pool deck be repaired with our Polylevel Injection.

Our Polylevel Injection is our state-of-the-art concrete repair method. Better than mudjacking, polylevel is waterproof, environmentally friendly, and has a quick recovery time of fifteen minutes. Penny-like holes are drilled into the concrete slab, creating less of a mess, and polymers are injected into the void. After the void has been filled, the expansion of the polymers lifts the concrete back to its original height.

Our foreman, Sean Johnson, and crew repaired the pool deck. Afterward, the homeowner was happy to see their pool deck fully repaired and ready to be closed up for the winter.

Sagging Crawl Space Beams Stabilized in Barnegat, NJ

Uneven floors over a crawl space is a big indecator of sagging floor joist. This is exactly what happened to a family living in the Barnegat area. The floors on the first level of the home were beginning to settle, bringing great concern to the homeowners who hadn't been living there very long. Luckly they contacted Qaulity 1st Basement Systems who sent System Design Specialist Laszlo Lenkey, out to inspect the concerns.

Laszlo recommend SmartJack Crawl Space Support System which would stabilize the sagging joist and gradually bring the joist back to their original state. The SmartJacks provide a permanent solution because they are installed by attached steel support beams to the floor joists and a sturdy base at the floor. Once the posts are installed, they are adjustable to raise the floor. Not only does it bring the floor joist back to its original state but it prevents future sagging. The homeowners were relieved that they no longer had to worry about their floor joist and were very satisfied with their overall experience with Quality 1st.

Preventing Mold Growth in a Barnegat, NJ Crawl Space

Quality 1st Basement Systems helped a customer resolve his crawl space water problems, and good news travels!  When that customer’s son, Phil, was purchasing a home in Barnegat which had a dirt floor crawl space with some mold growth, Quality 1st Basement Systems was called to the rescue.

Mold grows in humid conditions and it needs organic material to grow on.  In order to resolve Phil’s crawl space problems, the solution came in the form of first isolating the house from the earth with a CleanSpace 20 mil thick plastic liner.  This liner is manufactured with an anti-mold and bacteria growth material right in the plastic!  Then, to reduce humidity in the area, Quality 1st Basement Systems’ specialist also proposed sealing off the vents with vent covers, installing a new, airtight Everlast Door, and installing a SaniDry CX dehumidification system.  All of the products would be working together to thereby prevent mold growth.

With the project completed, Phil’s goal was met with the prevention of mold growth.  Additionally, the encapsulation and dehumidification system would provide not only a drier, less humid crawl space but also a warmer main level of his home with energy-cost savings!

Sunken Slabs Around Pool in Barnegat Lifted and Leveled with PolyLEVEL

Sean from Barnegat wanted to fix concrete slabs around his pool that were sinking.  The unlevel area was potentially a tripping hazard.  He searched on-line and found Quality 1st Basement Systems and scheduled an appointment for a free estimate.

The PolyLEVEL system is a quick fix for sinking concrete slabs.  The process involves the injection of structural grade polymers beneath concrete slabs through small holes.  This causes lifting and leveling the area; in essence, eliminating the tripping hazard.  The environmentally friendly material used in this process is less porous than concrete and will not wash out or deteriorate in the ground.

Sean found the fix he was looking for.  Quality 1st Basement Systems completed the work and since PolyLEVEL cures within 15 minutes, Sean’s concrete slabs around the pool were ready to be walked on again in almost no time!
