A homeowner in Voorhees, New Jersey noticed their driveway was sinking and becoming unlevel. This happens because concrete is often poured over recently backfilled soil. Over time, this loose soil settles and creates a void underneath the concrete. This can be a dangerous safety hazard because a friend or family member can trip and hurt themselves.
The homeowner called Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, Chris Bowe, was able to provide an inspection and help them find a solution to this issue. Upon his inspection, Chris saw how unlevel the concrete was. He suggested they use polyurethane foam to lift the concrete back to its original position.
Our foreman arrived on the job site and used the PolyLevel Injection System to be injected underneath the slab. This is achieved by drilling tiny penny-sized holes into the slab and injecting the foam underneath the slab to fill in the voids. The polyurethane foam has expanding properties that allow for an accurate lift and leveling of the slab. PolyLevel is lightweight and environmentally friendly, and will not add weight to the existing soil. The installation process can be done within a day and does not require heavy material.
When the job was complete, the homeowner was satisfied with the outcome. They were able to safely walk on the driveway without the hazard of tripping.
