A Staten Island, New York resident noticed water seeping into their crawl space. This happens because the soil around the foundation becomes saturated during heavy rainfall. The saturated soil creates hydrostatic pressure, which pushes water to seep through the walls and floors of a crawl space. The homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement and our Systems and System Design Specialist, Dylan McDonald, suggested they encapsulate the crawl space to prevent moisture from getting in.
