A homeowner in Ocean Gate, New Jersey noticed their floors were sagging in the upper levels of the home. Sagging floors are a common sign of a foundation issue. This can happen because when crawl space columns are spaced too far apart, the beam can become overloaded and sag between the columns. This means this girder sags with it and so does the floor above.
The homeowner contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, Joseph Mancini, was able to provide an inspection and help them find a plan to fix this issue. He suggested they use a steel support system in the crawl space to assist the columns in supporting the home. Our foreman, Wilver Cardoza, used The SmartJack System in the crawl space to lift the floors above to their original position. This process is done by assembling the components and tightening the SmartJack system into place. The support beam and floor joists are immediately stabilized and lifted to their original position. This system is not to replace the existing columns, but to add strength and stability to what is there.
A Homeowner had recently purchased this Wyckoff, NJ home and was looking for a solution for the bowing and cracked foundation walls in the basement. The block foundation had a hairline horizontal crack that stretch across almost the entire wall. The wall began bowing inward from the hydrostatic pressure from the ground outside. Our Senior Design Specialist, Ken Peare, eight PowerBraces for permanent stabilization of the foundation.
This Kearny, NJ home was undergoing some sagging floor issues, so we installed the SmartJack Support System as the best solution. SmartJacks provide additional support to the basement floor beams and joist. If the floors begin to sag on the first floor, SmartJacks can raise and stabilize the floor. This can prevent future movement in the future, protecting the floor and the homes structure.
To stop this garage wall from cracking further, Quality 1st Basement Systems installed wall anchors. Now the Middletown, NJ home is much safer.
